British Gas

At British Gas we’re certain of the need to play our part in cutting emissions and encouraging and helping our customers to be more energy efficient. We’re proud to be a launch partner in the Together campaign which also has this aim.

As the UK’s largest energy supplier we’re taking the lead in helping households reduce their carbon emissions, here’s some of things we’ve been doing over the last couple of years:

• We generate electricity with the lowest CO₂ emissions of any major energy supplier.
• Overall we have helped over 6 million households become more energy efficient in their home and last year 4 million customers received free energy efficient light bulbs to get them on the road to saving energy.
• We are committed to investing over £750 million in renewable energy over the coming years.
• Under our Energy Efficiency Commitment, we invested over £100 million on subsidising products such as cavity and loft insulation for around one million homes in 2005. We’ll planning to double this figure next year.
• Our Energy Savers Report has helped our customers to save in total an average of 682,711 tonnes of CO₂ pa.

Finally, as part of the campaign we’re also planning to launch a new green electricity product – the greenest in the market.
